After an endless development cycle, RuneSword v0.90 Gold Beta was released on February 6th, 2000 at 7:00 PM. Several months later on September 1st, 2000, RuneSword v1.0 was released. After a few patches (and one more available below), we had a pretty stable game packed with fun. Best of all it was absolutely free although we did encourage you to give some money to the charity of your choice. Some features:

• Turn-based, strategic combat
• Easy, pick-from-a-list scripting
• Object-based, enabling cut and paste components anywhere
• Supports all created material across adventures
• Enables creators to create unique races, spells, monsters, magic items
• Allows user-created graphics, music, and sound effects
• Automatic tome and map adventure generator from components
• Over 30 skills to choose from

What followed brought our ISP to its knees. We clocked over 100,000 downloads before losing count. Our Message Board was cranking so hot we had to move our web page. Ah, those were the days.
